Tours start early morning, when sea conditions are calm and sightings are most likely. On board, guests are supported with safety equipment and light refreshments, allowing you to relax and enjoy the journey. Our crew follows animal-friendly operating practices, maintaining safe distances and limiting engine noise to reduce stress on marine life. We work only with operators who respect ocean regulations and prioritize the wellbeing of whales, dolphins, and the surrounding ecosystem.

Whale Watching Ocean Experience
Early morning meeting at Mirissa Harbor (approximately 6:30-7:00 AM, exact time confirmed upon booking). Board the whale watching boat with your experienced crew who will provide a safety briefing and explain what to expect during the journey. Set off into the Indian Ocean as the sun rises, heading to areas where whales are commonly sighted. The journey typically takes 30-45 minutes to reach whale watching zones. Light breakfast is served on board as you scan the horizon. Mirissa's waters are one of the best places in the world to spot blue whales, the largest animals ever to exist on Earth, along with sperm whales, Bryde's whales, and various dolphin species including spinner dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, and sometimes even pilot whales. When whales or dolphins are sighted, the boat approaches slowly and respectfully, maintaining safe distances as per marine protection regulations. Engines are reduced to minimize disturbance. You'll have ample time to observe and photograph these magnificent creatures as they surface, breathe, dive, and sometimes breach. The crew provides information about whale behavior, migration patterns, and conservation efforts. Throughout the experience, fruits, snacks, and water are available. Sea sickness tablets are provided for those who need them. The total ocean time is approximately 3-4 hours. Return to Mirissa Harbor by late morning (approximately 11:00 AM-12:00 PM), carrying with you unforgettable memories of these ocean giants.
